Glorious

Smt. Tara Priyadarshini Bikkasani , stole my heart at the Tyagraja Festival, Saltlake City (2007). Miraculous performance...my digital SLR was not fast enough to capture all her expressions...I have never been so nervous while shootin. Two of my passsions merged together on One Day..in 30 mins...More snaps of her to come...

Photographing a dance performance is a real challenge.

what dance was it? (which particular traditional form?)

Haven't seen any dance (classical or otherwise) in a while but here are few tips to keep in mind while shooting at such events:

1. Set the 'White Balance' in your camera to either Incandescent or Halogen light settings. OR

2. If using flash is allowed, set the 'White Balance' to flash mode.

3. Set the shooting mode to either Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority (I use former) and select the lowest possible F number - this will open the lens to the maximum and camera will pick the appropriate shutter speed (this value of Shutter Speed may not always be appropriate but it's a close guestimate - you can then use Manual Mode and shoot)
