Ola,

Came here following links and your comments in Deepti's and Akira's blogs. Have few of comments / suggestions for this particular picture:

1. Composition is nice - your subject(s) fill much of the view. Matches/obeys the classic rule of thirds/fourths, making it very appealing.

2. I don't know which camera were you using but my guess is that it either used a lower f-stop or was shot in the auto mode. Looking at the details of the background, I would re-guess my guess to be the 'auto' mode.

3. One of the subjects (on your right, the taller one) is in better focus compared to the one on left. Also, the background, in the top left corner, is a bit too bright and washes off the contrast in that plane. So, metering your exposure on a different object and then refocusing it on the subject would, in many cases, resolve such issues.

4. Not sure if you did post-processing for this image. If you didn't, it's a good idea to do so. Most people are under the assumption that post-processing is same as manipulation of the image to meet our requirements. But in a true sense and if done correctly, it's an act of simulating the reality, as we saw with our bare naked eyes. For example, the equipment (camera and lens) many a times poses a restriction on what we can(not) shoot and we end up shooting things that are not intended to be in the picture. Then, CCD/film is far more sensitive to UV light compared to our eyes. So, the camera sees haze (near the horizon/skies) even on a clear day. And so on...

Happy shooting :)

Cheers,
Gowtham

@Gowtham:
hi,
First of all thanks for taking the time and giving a detailed critic on this shot. 2ndly for adding me to your daily feed.

Now regarding the snap - It was shot in 'auto mode' and in real hurry before getting in que and in shock stage by the photographer :).hence no time for metering or adjusting the light. And I try to avoid any post processing as much as I can. So nothing done here too.

Thanks again
